Less spending is better than more revenue

KyPolitics.org excerpts Paducah Sun coverage of First Lady Jane Beshear on a big government rant:

"If you want programs to continue and grow instead of being cut back, the only way to make that happen is to get more revenue," she said Wednesday night during a Paducah forum. "You need to talk to your legislators."

But Jane, most of us don't want programs to continue and grow. We want them to solve the problem they were created to solve and go away.

With this mentality, we will never get off the endless "revenue shortfall" merry-go-round. But then I suspect Jane and her husband know that.

Working with what you have is an idea that works all around us...its a shame the legislature fails to recognize and implement this mindset...

Miles Davis is one of the most famous trumpet players of all time but not because he was the most technically proficient player. Miles was famous because he made more profound statements with fewer notes. He had just a many notes available as any other trumpeter but realized early on that its the notes you DON'T play that make all the difference in the world.

That depends on what the spending is for. If its for including more children under KCHIP then less spending is not better than more revenue.

If it's giving corporate welfare to companies to locate in Kentucky, then less spending is better. Government euphemistically calls these corporate welfare handouts, "economic incentives."

You ought to be railing against a tax system that is unjust and unfair. A tax system that is not based on proportion can in no way be called "fair."

When a tax system is fair, i.e., proportional, then the issue can be discussed what spending is beneficial to the good of the people.
