A couple of very interesting quotes from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Polwatchers Saturday night about political heat he is getting for supporting the bailout bill:
"“It’s not fair to paint this as some kind of fatal vote when you’ve got such a huge bipartisan majority voting for it,” McConnell said in his first detailed discussion with Kentucky reporters of the vote he took 11 days ago."
And this one...
"“If my opponent wants to hit me, he’s hitting Congressman Yarmuth. If he wants to hit me, he’s hitting Barack Obama, he’s hitting (House Speaker) Nancy Pelosi,” McConnell said."

McConnell is as dunderheaded as are all the other "deregulators."
There isn't any human activity that doesn't need regulation.
If Congress can't write rules governing the economic system so that the fewest number of people are hurt by it, then Congress should turn the rule writing over to the NCAA who can at least write rules, have officials and an enforcement system to keep injuries to a minimum.
The same thing can be done for an economic system.
A so-called "free-market" system is just a license to injury as many people as possible economically to benefit those who are already operating at a position of economic advantage.
De-regulation is nothing more than another way of saying, "Might makes right."
If McConnell can't stand the heat, why doesn't he get out of the kitchen? And why isn't he promoting a system of regulation for the economic system?
Quit complaining Mitch, and do something positive in your life for a change.
