What about school choice now?

John Locke Foundation's Terry Stoops asks the question: will President Barack Obama walk his talk on schools?

Obama's campaign rhetoric stirred up hope for some Kentucky school choicers. It will be interesting to see where he goes on this one.

David,

Based on everything I've read, Stoops' suggestion that Obama and the Clintons have the same positions on school choice is simply in error. Both Clintons took the more typical pro-union positions. If he spent three minutes researching Obama's education policy, surely he knows this.

If he is trying to disparage Obama in advance, it says more about him and his politics than it does Obama - or the Clintons for that matter. It reveals him to be unreliable as a source of factual information.

But as you suggest, whether Obama walks his talk remains to be seen. ...and yes, it's going to be interesting.

Thanks Richard. I hadn't seen Stoops' comments in that light, but I get your point. I am just eager to see President Obama follow through on his campaign rhetoric about charter schools. I don't expect him to send his daughters to the horrible Washington D.C. public schools, but I would like to see the rest of us not be stripped of similar options with what is really our own money.
