Truth hurts tax-raisers' cause

Kentucky sales and use tax revenues were up $11.6 million or 5% in December over the same period in 2007. If you are keeping score at home, this is the December in which the world was supposed to be ending and Gov. Beshear was hankering for a bailout from President-elect Barack Obama.

Fiscal year revenues, since July 1, are up $49,724,244 over the same period last year.

Kentucky has a spending problem, not a revenue production problem. Therefore, tax increases are not the answer. Less spending, within our means, is the answer.

World supposed to be ending in December 2008? Is this some more of that religious right wing-nut conservative theology?

An apocalyptic mentality is always hanging around.

I'm sure you're aware of the 12/22/2012 Mayan calendar et. al. scenario that's the latest rage.

Maybe it's time for the religious wing-nut right conservatives to don their white robes and head to the mountain tops.

After all, according to their theology the earth is flat and heaven is up and hell down below, and they're going to be "caught-up" in the air to orbit around planet earth for the next thousand years or so, and then return to rule and reign.

There are a number of godmen messiahs who promised a similar return.

The non-historical Mithras and Jesus are two of the more commonly known ones. I'm not sure how they'll sort out who belongs to whom.

Relax, Hempy. I was making light of the economic hyperbole that is so popular these days.
