Socialize me systematically

The first leg subway system in NYC was a private venture. The city used taxpayer money to build a competing system. With tax dollars subsidizing the city system, it was able to undercut the private systems fares - with the true cost of the city system hidden by its tax subsidy. The private owner eventually sold out to the city.

Sound familiar?

Eliminating the middle man has long been a practice of capitalism. If that means moving to a public-financed system, then so be it.

Public health care is less expensive, and eliminates the exorbitant profits and salaries of management.

Ever notice how when a company is coming into a community, the Chamber of Commerce puts out a propaganda sheet of the average wage?

Why not put out a sheet showing the median wage? Because the median wage would be embarrassingly low compared to the CEOs' compensation.

If we have to go through a process of phased withdrawal from private health insurance to public health insurance, then so be it.

A health care system that provides for everyone is as essential to national security as is a well-funded and maintained military. Both are integral components of national security.
