Last year, The Bluegrass Institute's FreedomKentucky.org conducted a vast number of open records requests as part of a transparency campaign. The focus was primarily on school districts and cities and obtaining their budgets and check book registers. You can view the results of that effort here.
Now we want your input!
Drop us a line, either by email or as a comment here, and let us know what information you're interested in obtaining through open records requests. Transparency is the first step toward accountability and the Kentucky Open Records Act is one of the best transparency tools we have available to us.

Thank you for all of your efforts in open records and making data more transparent.
I'm interested in what specific budget priorities and objectives Governor Beshear gave to the legislature when he couldn't come up with enough money to continue the state's insatiable appetite to throw money at everything.
I believe there are specific education objectives enacted by statute that are not being met by the public education system. With all the money public education gets now their only solution is more money. Is there any way to penalize public educators for not doing their job?
What specific measurements does the state routinely update to reflect any status against stated performance goals?
Is there anyplace that summarizes all of the health benefits, pension benefits, leave and work rules for a state employee?
Thanks for turning on the lights.
Lowell Reese published some legislator pensions and abuses months ago in the Kentucky Gazette. Is there any way to get that data in Freedom Kentucky so people can find it at any time to see what is going on?
Does the state maintain a list of all projects that have been covered by their prevailing wage edicts? I think people should know how many projects there are, how much money is being spent on them and examples, if any, of where prevailing wage determinations are not reflective on local community practices. Thanks.
Is there any way to see which legislators benefit most from the education lobbyists? Thanks.
How much money is spent for health and pension benefits for retired state employees? We don't get any productive work for that money.
