Quote of the day: Teachers' unions
“I think they are looking out in too many cases for their own good and not for the good of the students.” --Lee Todd, University of Kentucky president, on the state's teachers unions

That is exactly the case in Kentucky! Well said, Dr. Todd!
It is refreshing to see Dr. Todd's open and honest appraisal of the obstructions the teachers unions place in the way of better education for children.
Dah! Of course they do. That is exactly what they are set up to do. They are not focused to do the job of education leadership. They put their members first always. Education leadership is supposed to put kids first but they don't have the courage. Don't fault the union. The union is upfront supporting all of their barriers to education excellence. It's education leadership that doesn't have a clue on what to do if their main objective is effectively teaching the kids and not just getting along.
