A little help, please

Ahem...uh, excuse me. Is this thing on?

Okay, now that I have your attention, I need your assistance. Apparently, I have been getting some attention from a national group based in Chicago who is tracking government transparency movements in the states.

It would be really nice, however, if others jumped on the bandwagon. No one out there disagrees with the idea that government should be more transparent with our money. But until a few more people get jump-on-the-table-screaming-hair-on-fire mad about Kentucky's unwillingness to show us what is going on in real time, nothing is going to happen.

Who is with me?

Kentucky should develop the level of government transparency that has been established in Milwaukee County here: http://milwaukeecounty.headquarters.com/search_mke.aspx

Making government spending transparent starts with its checkbook register and enables taxpayers to see who receives the money (and how much in total) and which agency authorized the expenditure.

If someone received a government check, taxpayers should have access to that record.
