BIPPS appearing on 84 WHAS to respond to governor's recent attack on the institute

Jim Waters, Bluegrass Institute vice president of policy and communications, will appear on 84WHAS in Louisville on Monday at 7:35 a.m. EDT to discuss the current legislative battle in Frankfort over how to balance the commonwealth's deficit-ridden Medicaid budget.

Waters will be a guest on the "Tony Cruise and the Morning Team" show. He will respond to Gov. Steve Beshear's recent attack (following) on Cruise's show earlier this week:

Here's the exchange:

Cruise: According to the Bluegrass Institute, you had promised $250 million in savings for the current two-year budget. That did not happen. Now, you’re going to pull another almost $170 million out of next year’s Medicaid budget to kind of plug a hole in it. Governor, in all honesty, is that a solution or a Band-Aid?

Governor: “Well Tony, first of all, the Bluegrass Institute’s stuff is a bunch of baloney. You know, that’s a right-wing think tank composed of one person that puts his blog up on the line all the time.”

Listen to the full interview (about 7 minutes long) here.

Actually, Beshear paid you a compliment. He actually called you a "think tank." Right wing and think tank is a contradiction in terms.

As you well know, there is no cure for stupid. And John Stuart Mills did say: "Conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservative."

I've been reading this blog for a long time and always find Hempy's comments amusing but calling someone stupid is childish.

Grow up, Hempy.

Mr. Waters,

You laid it out nicely this morning on WHAS.

Pols need to understand that just saying something isn't enough, anymore. People want data, hard facts and evidence. Numbers cited out of thin air are no longer enough.

Results from the pending open records requests you guys at BIPPS have submitted should make a good 'read.'

Hempy, there is a message here for you, too. People are getting less and less impressed with name-calling. It didn't work for the governor, whose name-calling against BIPPS simply backfired, getting Waters more time on air.

Hempy, name-calling only serves to undermine your credibility, as well. Stick to the facts. If you haven't got 'em, highlighting that deficiency by degenerating into name-calling won't fool very many into thinking you do.

Evidently you didn't read the comment. The quote is from John Stuart Mills. I suspect he knew well what he was talking about. Things haven't changed that much over the centuries.

Hempy,

Doesn't change the fact that you took the low road by resorting to name calling rather than intelligently expressing your position.

Grow up.

Since you like those quotes about conservatives here are a few more:

Conservative Government is organized hypocrisy. – Benjamin Disraeli

Conservatism discards Prescription, shrinks from Principle, disavows Progress; having rejected all respect for antiquity, it offers no redress for the present, and makes no preparation for the future. – Benjamin Disraeli

A conservative is a man with two perfectly good legs who, however, has never learned how to walk forward. – Franklin D. Roosevelt

The radical of one century is the conservative of the next. The radical invents the views. When he has worn them out, the conservative adopts them. – Mark Twain

A conservative is a man who believes that nothing should be done for the first time. – Alfred E. Wiggam

Conservatives, teabaggers, Republicans and Bluegrass Policy Blog have their ideology rooted and grounded in feudalism.

Our founders wrote a constitution designed to thwart the efforts of feudalism.
